Number
Jointly the largest section at Foundation tier, alongside Ratio, and where the most accessible marks sit. Together the two account for roughly half the marks on a Foundation paper. At Higher its share drops sharply as algebra takes over, but the fluency built here underpins everything else — a student who is slow with fractions will be slow with algebraic fractions too.
Weightings are approximate and vary slightly by board. They describe the whole tier rather than any single paper.
